RAVINIA BREWING COMPANY TO RE-LAUNCH AS STEEP RAVINE BREWING COMPANY

(CHICAGO) – Ravinia Brewing Company is rebranding to Steep Ravine Brewing Company, the name of its flagship craft brew.

“When we launched Ravinia Brewing 10 years ago, our mission was built on three pillars: community, craft, and creation,” says Kris Walker, Co-Founder and Managing Partner. “As we transition to Steep Ravine Brewing Company, we’re embracing the connection between beer and storytelling. Sharing a beer has always been about creating meaningful experiences, and this next chapter allows us to honor that tradition. Your story. Our beer. We’re excited to share what’s ahead with our community and fans.”

The decision follows the resolution of a trademark dispute with Ravinia Festival, which provided assistance for the rebranding.

“This announcement marks an exciting new chapter for Steep Ravine Brewing Company,” said Jeff Haydon, CEO of Ravinia Festival. “We look forward to their continued success.”

While the name may be different, it’s also familiar; it takes its new name from the brewery’s flagship IPA, a beloved beer with seven years of wide distribution across Illinois.

The brand’s iconic “Tree Guy” mascot, depicting a tree riding a bicycle, will continue as part of the new logo, maintaining the whimsical and approachable charm customers know and love.

“This rebranding gave us the rare opportunity to reflect on who we are and what makes us special,” added Jeff Hoobler, Managing Partner. “Every time we thought of new names, we came back to our origins—our original home in the Ravinia District of Highland Park, and the steep ravines and stories that surround it. By putting our ‘Tree Guy’ and our Highland Park heritage front and center, we’re staying true to our identity. We’re excited to keep doing what we love for years to come.”

Guests will begin seeing Steep Ravine Brewing Company cans starting today at the taprooms in Highland Park and the Logan Square/Avondale neighborhood of Chicago.

The Highland Park taproom will undergo modest updates but retain the same community-driven atmosphere, team, and menu that have made it a North Shore favorite for the past decade. Steep Ravine is also thrilled to announce the return of live music at the Highland Park location—stay tuned for updates on social media.

The Logan Square taproom will close its operations with a farewell party Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024. Steep Ravine Brewing Company, however, will continue to use the space to make beer, and exciting announcements about the taproom’s future will follow soon.

The farewell event will feature special beer releases, a curated menu, and a chance to reminisce about the incredible stories that shaped the taproom’s journey.

Steep Ravine Brewing Company will maintain its award-winning portfolio of beers, including the Great American Beer Festival (GABF) medal-winning Diversey Station Hazy Pale Ale, its Flagship Steep Ravine IPA, which will now be in a gold can, along with other favorites like the Food Truck Pilsner, Lost Hops, Baldwin, Star Seeker, and Taco Fest to name a few.

Steep Ravine Brewing Company will continue to introduce new exciting styles such as its aptly named release this week of Launch Party 2.0, a double IPA made with spruce tips, and its most recent Festival of Barrel Aged Beers (FOBAB) entry - Double Sproak - which is aged on white oak and was the only IPA entry at FOBAB this year.

A first run of limited edition Steep Ravine Brewing Company cans will only be available at the Highland Park and Logan Square taprooms, making these locations a must-visit for craft beer enthusiasts over the next few weeks, while supplies last.
